Limiting Beliefs
We all carry them—those quiet, internal whispers that tell us we’re not enough, not ready, not worthy, or simply not capable. They’re called limiting beliefs—and if you don’t keep them in check, they’ll run the show.

They sound like:

“Who am I to try that?”
“I’ve never been good with money, so why start now?”
“What if I fail again?”
“Maybe I should just be grateful for what I have.”

Let’s be honest—those phrases have power. Not because they’re true, but because we’ve repeated them to ourselves so often, they feel like truth.

In my own journey, whether it was clawing my way back after failure, rebuilding my life in Texas, or launching a memoir that shares the raw truth of my life, I’ve wrestled with these voices. And the biggest lesson?

Those beliefs only have the power we continue to feed them.

A Supporter’s Message Hit Me Hard
This morning, I received a message from a supporter of Truth in the Trenches™. He shared something I won’t forget:

“I am struggling with my battle to success and yes time marches on. I have no regrets but I am facing my inner beliefs that are limiting my success. Managing to continue to be present for my wife and four kids as time goes on I am aware that i need to make the most of every minute as the clock can run out at anytime”

That hit home. Because it’s real. I’ve heard this more times than I can count. You can be grateful for your life and still feel the tension of untapped potential. You can love your family deeply and still feel like something inside you has gone dormant. And that’s not selfish—that’s human.

I replied back and I told him what he needs now isn’t just “motivation” or a “guru.” What he needs is a circle—a group of men who can stand beside him, challenge him, hold him accountable, and remind him of who he really is.

Sometimes the only way to quiet those limiting beliefs is to stop fighting them alone.

THE TRUTH: We Don’t Need 100 Friends. We Need 3 Who Will Tell Us the Truth.
It’s easy to drown in noise these days—scrolling social media, comparing your life to filtered highlight reels, chasing validation from people who wouldn’t show up if your world crumbled.

But that’s not what we need.

What we need is a tribe. A wife who reminds us of our mission. A friend who won’t let us play small. A son or daughter whose eyes see the warrior in us even when we forget it’s there. He needs other men to hold him accountable!

Tony Robbins calls these beliefs “invisible chains.” And he’s right. But those chains don’t break with quotes. They break with community, confrontation, and commitment.

THE CHALLENGE: One Belief. One Person. One Step.
Here’s your challenge today. Pick just one limiting belief you’ve carried:

“I’m not smart enough to start that business.”
“I’ll never heal from that betrayal.”
“I’ll always struggle financially.”
“It’s too late for me.”

Then do this:

Say it out loud. (Yes—out loud.)
Tell someone you trust. A spouse, a brother, a sister, a friend, a coach.
Ask them to hold you to the truth. Not the version of you you’ve settled for—but the one they know you can become.

Because when someone sees you bigger than you see yourself, you begin to rise.

FINAL WORD
This life? It’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about showing up raw, scarred, imperfect, but unwilling to back down. Whether you’re a father trying to balance work and family, an entrepreneur caught between risk and responsibility, or just someone rebuilding from the inside out—you’re not alone.

And if Truth in the Trenches™ does one thing, I hope it shows that. We break down together. We rise together. And together, we don’t let those old beliefs write our next chapter.

Let’s rewrite the story.

—Till the next time
